Tech Data Mobile will be giving mobile resellers the opportunity to offer UK and Ireland customers the first device from BQ to run the ground-breaking, alternative Android-based Cyanogen operating system, which offers a more customisable interface and enhanced security.
The new BQ Aquaris X5 comes with a 5-inch 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 412 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, a 13MP rear camera and 5MP device on the front. It also features dual SIM, 4G connectivity and a 2,900mAh battery, which BQ says provides a longer battery life than other smartphones with similar specifications thanks to operating system optimisation and low-power components. The open-source Cynaogen operating environment can be customised to meet the user’s individual needs. It comes with tools for advanced call identification and spam blocking. Users can also control which apps can access specific personal data.
BQ has made use of injection moulding, die casting and nano moulding technology techniques to shape the Aquaris X5’s striking aluminium body. It is very light and thin, weighing just 148g, with only 7.5 mm thickness.
David Brassington Vendor Director at Tech Data Mobile, said: “We’ve had a great response to BQ since we introduced them to the UK in September. BQ is a really exciting brand and one that gives business resellers and retailers something different to take to their customers. The BQ Aquaris X5 is a perfect illustration. Tech Data Mobile is supporting the Cyanogen OS due to its customisable interface and higher levels of privacy and security via the Privacy Guard app, which gives users control over their personal data shared with third parties.”
The BQ Aquaris X5 should be available to UK and Ireland customers by mid-January and is expected to Retail for £179.
