Tech Data Mobile has appointed its first dedicated Android Business Development Manager, with the aim of driving higher sales through B2B IT resellers as well as traditional mobile dealers and retail channels.
James Turner has joined Tech Data Mobile from Motorola, where he spent four years as National Accounts Manager, working with retail and direct mail partners and supporting their business development. In this newly-created role at Tech Data Mobile, he will be working with the distributor’s leading Android vendor partners, including Samsung and Motorola, to support resellers in increasing their sales and opening up new opportunities in new markets.

In recent weeks, Tech Data Mobile has seen rapid uptake of the new Samsung Galaxy Edge 6 and Edge+ Android smartphones in both the consumer and business markets. It has also reported strong sales of Motorola’s new Moto G third-generation device and X Play handset, along with high levels of advanced enquiries about the forthcoming Moto X Style, which is due to launch in the near future.
Tech Data Mobile was the first distributor to make these devices available to UK resellers and, with its unrivalled stock-holding, logistics, credit and overnight shipment capabilities, is perfectly placed to ensure resellers can take full advantage of the extensive vendor promotional activity supporting these devices.
A number of significant new product launches are expected within the next few weeks and Tech Data Mobile is also looking to add new vendors of Android solutions to its portfolio before the end of the year. Tech Data Mobile and Motorola are running a Webex conference on the use of Android devices for mobile business next month. The Make Any Place Your Workplace presentation is scheduled for Tuesday 7th October at 10.00 am. It will demonstrate how Android is being used effectively in the workplace and explain how partners can drive Android device adoption amongst business and enterprise customers.
